New Grant and Grantee Setup in SPARS
The SPARS team will be establishing new grants in SPARS based on grants awarded by SAMHSA using data from the eRA grant award system. Grants awarded on or before 9/30/2024 will be established in SPARS no later than 11/22/2024.
An email with account information and sign-in instructions is sent to grant Project Directors (PDs) when a new grant has been added to SPARS. PDs should expect several key communications during the grant’s initial months to ensure new grantees are well-prepared for data entry and reporting in SPARS. Below is a timeline of what PDs can expect:
- By November 22, 2024: An email advising PDs that their SPARS user account has been set up, with sign-in instructions.
- By November 22, 2024: An email sent to PDs with onboarding materials and instructions for setting up additional SPARS user accounts for their grant via the Add/Remove User Request form. These instructions can also be found in the SPARS New Grantee Quick Reference Guide. A copy of the email sent to the PD is also sent to the GPO for their awareness.
We encourage grantees to become familiar with the SPARS New Grantee Quick Reference Guide, available on the SPARS Resources page, which provides an overview of the process for setting up new grants and users in SPARS. Information in this guide is most relevant to SAMHSA grantees and Government Project Officer(s) for grants awarded in September 2024 as well as future grant awards. This guide contains key resources, tips, and contact information that may be helpful to new grantees.
